Novel Prostate Cancer Biomarkers: Aetiology, Clinical Performance and Sensing Applications
نویسندگان
چکیده
The review initially provides a short introduction to prostate cancer (PCa) incidence, mortality, and diagnostics. Next, the need for novel biomarkers PCa diagnostics is briefly discussed. core of details about aetiology, alternative available besides specific antigen their biosensing. In particular, low molecular mass biomolecules (ions metabolites) high (proteins, RNA, DNA, glycoproteins, enzymes) are discussed, along with clinical performance parameters.

Novel diagnostic biomarkers for prostate cancer
Prostate cancer is the most frequently diagnosed malignancy in American men, and a more aggressive form of the disease is particularly prevalent among African Americans. The therapeutic success rate for prostate cancer can be tremendously improved if the disease is diagnosed early. Thus, a successful therapy for this disease depends heavily on the clinical indicators (biomarkers) for early dete...

Current “traditional” prognostic markers cannot reliably distinguish the potentially lif...
متن کاملNovel biomarkers and therapeutic targets for prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is the most prevalent cancer in the Western male population and the second leading cause of cancer death in men, affecting over 10 million individuals. Present approaches to control the cancer mortality have focused on the detection of the cancer at early stages when it is still locally confined and may be curable. Identification of the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) has facili...
متن کاملClinical and Pathological Features of Iraqi Patients with Prostate Cancer
Background: The clinical pathological features were detected by measuring the prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) activity according to the stages and grades of prostate cancer. We also explored the relationship between the disease and age with family history among the patients. Methods: Data were collected from direct interview and from the patient’s records. Blood samples that collected before ...

A n international team of researchers believe they may have found, if not the smoking gun, at least a few DNA “bullets” that determine whether prostate cancer will become aggressive. A new biomarker study, which appeared in the Aug. 16, 2011, online edition of Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers, and Prevention, identified five inherited genetic variants associated with aggressive prostate cancer. ...
